Charity Gig for ClicSargent

Screen Shot 2018-02-04 at 21.33.55

On Sunday 4th February I performed a set at The Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren as part of their fundraiser for the charity ClicSargent.

Kicking off the music was Mike Hardy, followed by myself, then Josh and Mike and finally Jake and Sam headlining.

I’m sure that once again we raised loads of money for ClicSargent, it was a fantastic evening with a great turnout. Many thanks to everyone who kindly came up to me after my set and told me how much they enjoyed it!

Over the next few weeks I’ll be uploading a couple of videos I recorded at the gig to my Youtube channel, so give me a subscribe to be updated when I upload a new video!

What Happens in a Pre-Wedding Meeting?

If you are thinking of booking me to sing during your wedding, I offer a free pre-wedding meeting to all of my clients so that you can properly meet me (and Kyle!) and have an informal chat about your wedding music and any questions that you might have.

I will find somewhere that is convenient for the both of us (but any suggestions are more than welcome!) so that we can sit down, relax, and get to know each other over a drink. First you can tell us what music you like and if there are any particular songs you would like to hear on your special day, and also any songs you don’t want to hear!

We would ask you questions such as what is your venue like (if we are not familiar with it) and if you would be able to find out where the power supply would be in the room, who is your wedding co-ordinator at the venue, just things like that.

If you have any other requirements, please make sure you tell us in this meeting or drop us an email afterwards! It’s useful to know little things, such as what are you bridal party colours, so that we can avoid wearing that colour on your wedding day!

However if you have any questions now, feel free to drop me an email at rebeccarhosyn@outlook.com

Dates to watch out for in February!

Just a quick blog post about what I have coming up next month!

  • On Sunday 4th February I will be performing a set at The Sir John Borlase Warren in Stapleford, Nottingham as part of their charity fundraiser for ClicSargent. The last event they did was a great success and I am honoured to be asked back to perform again. If you are thinking of booking me to sing at your wedding this would be a great event to go to so that you can watch me sing live, and also help us raise money for a great cause!
  • On Tuesday 6th February I will be performing once again with the piano at The Wellington Inn in Eastwood at 10pm, this venue was so fun to play last time (read my blog post all about it here) so I’m looking forward to playing here again!
  • The Village Hotel in Chilwell is my next wedding fayre on Sunday 11th February 11am-3pm, come and visit my stand to listen to me sing and have a chat!
  • On Sunday 25th February I will be performing with the piano at The Brown Cow in Mansfield at 8pm. I last played here just before Christmas and everyone who came to watch (despite the snow!) was so lovely and were asking me to come back, so I am!

Wedding Fayre at Eastwood Hall

On Sunday 21st January I exhibited at my very first wedding fayre at Eastwood Hall! It was an amazing experience, talking to brides, grooms and their families as well as singing a wide variety of songs picked by people who visited the show. ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran was a very popular choice!

I’ve got lots of prospective clients to get in touch with, I’m so happy with how well the event turned out despite the snowy weather! (We had a lovely view of the snow in the gardens behind us by the way!) The team at Edward Lewis really looked after us and all of the other suppliers myself and Kyle spoke to were lovely and very helpful. I can’t wait for our next show at The Village Hotel in Chilwell, Nottingham!

Recording Session with Rogue Levels

On Friday 12th January I did a live recording session with Rogue Levels, who also kindly took some photos of me singing (little teaser above!) The song I picked to sing is a perfect wedding song so I really hope that you enjoy it when the video comes out!

Keep checking my website for when the video is released as it will go straight onto the home page!

Wellington Inn, Eastwood

On Tuesday 9th January I performed a 30 minute set with my piano at The Wellington Inn in Eastwood, Nottingham. Every performance I do with Roots Acoustic is always a fun one, the crowd are always singing along and in particular, my new addition of ‘Helena’ by My Chemical Romance. I’m hoping that at my next Roots Acoustic performance, I can add in some more new songs for you all to hear!

You can check out the photos taken by Rogue Levels above.

Singing Lessons for Brides/Grooms!

Have you ever thought about surprising your wife/husband on your wedding day?
How about singing a song to them on your special day?

This idea could make you jump out of your seat with excitement, or absolute terrify you (and thats ok!)

So that you feel comfortable and confident if you do want to go ahead with singing a song at your wedding, I am able to help guide you through preparing your chosen song as not only do I perform and weddings, but I also am an established vocal coach based in Nottingham.

I am offering EXCLUSIVELY for brides/grooms a set of 5 singing lessons for just £89.00 (instead of £100), where we will spend time working on your vocal technique as well as performance techniques.

I have taught many brides and grooms before, and to help keep your performance a secret, I will keep my mouth zipped 🙂

If you would like any more information, take a look my page all about singing lessons here or take a look at my website for singing lessons, or just drop me a message if you have any questions.

Should You Book A Musician For Your Wedding?

Of course you should! Although you would expect me to say that. So let me tell you why. Although having a musician perform at your wedding isn’t a necessity, it can add an extra touch to your special day. Here are 5 points as to why you should book a musician for your wedding day:

1. Many Opportunities Throughout the Day

There are many points throughout the day itself where live music can really add to the atmosphere. For example strings, such as a violin or string quartet, can be perfect for the ceremony, or a live singer either with backing tracks or guitar/piano can compliment the drinks reception. A DJ can be great for the evening reception, but a vocalist or band can really get the party going!

2. A Memorable First Dance

A live performance of your first dance can be so much better than what any recording can be. The song can be any way that you want it to be, so that it is more personal to the both of you.

3. The Day is Filled With Your Favourite Songs

You can request special songs to be performed, I’ve even had a request to perform mash-ups of a couple of songs! This way the music is tailored to your tastes and I would say that the majority of musicians would be more than happy to learn specific songs just for you. Just make sure that you give the performer enough time to learn the song, as the more time that you give them then the better the performance will be.

4. A Talking Point for Guests

A musician can be a great way to ‘break the ice’ between guests and create a talking point for them. Background music can be great to add to fill ‘lull’s in the day such as when guests are waiting around while you are having your photographs taken, but live music will get your guests more involved and will create more of an atmosphere during those times when guests are waiting.

5. Fun and Memorable

A musician can make your wedding day more fun as they have a lot more charisma than a recorded track! They add a personal touch to your wedding day, making it more memorable and they can also bounce off of your guests, especially in the evening, to make the entertainment more fun! A wedding band can really get your guests on their feet and dancing the night away!

Hopefully this post has convinced you to book a musician for your wedding, and that I am the right musician for your special day. Make sure to get in touch and we can start our conversation on how I can make your wedding a little bit more magical 🙂

Happy New Year!

I have been spending the Christmas season with my family and friends, but I just wanted to say Happy New Year! I hope 2018 brings everyone joy and happiness, but for now I have a couple more days off work relaxing before my singing lessons resume and I have to start preparing for my very first wedding fayre!

2017 in Review

It’s been a year of highs and lows, but I am nearly squealing (in my head) at how excited I am for 2018. One of my resolutions for 2017 was to gig more, which I definitely have done – I have been regularly taking part in Roots Acoustic Evenings around Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire and will continue to do so into next year. I have performed at wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions and evening receptions, as well as public music nights at pubs and bars. Hopefully there will be many more to come in 2018 🙂

Another aim I had to 2017 was to push my Youtube channel more, of which I mostly did for the first half of the year! I ended up not being able to record any videos from July onwards because I took on a job that took up a lot of my time, and unfortunately the Youtube channel was one of the things that I couldn’t find time for. Hopefully I can get some more covers recorded next year – if you have any requests then please comment below!

Here is to 2018!
