Technical Questions

Is your equipment PAT tested?
Yes – we have our equipment tested annually and copies of certificates can be sent upon request.

What about Public Liability Insurance (PLI)?
Yes, we are fully insured through our membership with ISM.

Do you provide a PA and Lighting?
We can provide a full 2 speaker PA setup but unfortunately we do not have any lighting (but watch this space!)

How long do you need to set up and do you need a soundcheck?
We always ask for one hour as setup time, and if possible we will also do a short soundcheck. This enables us to give you the best possible performance and reduces the risk of poor sound quality and any feedback issues during the performance. However, we understand that weddings can run to a strict schedule and it’s not always possible to do a soundcheck.

Performance Questions

Can we come and watch you live?
Yes! We perform at lots of local shows so keep an eye on the Facebook page and any monthly blog updates. This is a chance for you to come and see us in action (as well as our setup) and we always recommend coming to listen to us before booking us. If you can’t make it to any of our performances, you can always check out the Youtube channel to get an idea of how we sound.

What happens if you fall ill on the day?
We are proud to say that we have never cancelled a performance due to illness or emergencies. However, should this situation arise, we would directly contact you as soon as possible to inform you of the situation, and recommend another musician from our carefully selected group of musicians from all over the UK. For any further information, have a read of our T&C’s.

Do we need a DJ if you are performing at our evening wedding reception?
If booking us to perform at your evening reception, we strongly recommend also booking a DJ as we unfortunately cannot provide DJ or disco services.

Do you learn requests?
Yes! We know that some songs are very meaningful to you and so we would be more than happy to learn requests.

Booking Questions

What happens when I enquire with you?
Let us know your date and we can check our diary for if we are available, we aim to contact you back within 24 hours. If we are available, we would be in touch with you to find out some more information about your requirements and to schedule a free meeting with you.

How does the booking process for weddings work? Do we pay a deposit and when is the final balance due?
At your free pre-wedding meeting we will discuss your quotation and requirements, and if you are happy to go ahead we ask that a 25% deposit is due for 1 week after your meeting, otherwise you date will become available for other couples to book again. Once your deposit is paid, this holds your date so we will not book another wedding on that day. The deposit can be paid at your meeting by cash or cheque, or you can pay within the 1 week period via bank transfer. Your final balance is then due 2 weeks before your wedding date.

We can also take urgent bookings, in which case if the wedding date is within 2 weeks of enquiring, then the full balance must be paid immediately to secure your date.

Do we need to provide you with food?
No not at all, as we can bring our own pack-up, although offers are lovely!

What Happens in a Pre-Wedding Meeting?

If you are thinking of booking me to sing during your wedding, I offer a free pre-wedding meeting to all of my clients so that you can properly meet me (and Kyle!) and have an informal chat about your wedding music and any questions that you might have.

I will find somewhere that is convenient for the both of us (but any suggestions are more than welcome!) so that we can sit down, relax, and get to know each other over a drink. First you can tell us what music you like and if there are any particular songs you would like to hear on your special day, and also any songs you don’t want to hear!

We would ask you questions such as what is your venue like (if we are not familiar with it) and if you would be able to find out where the power supply would be in the room, who is your wedding co-ordinator at the venue, just things like that.

If you have any other requirements, please make sure you tell us in this meeting or drop us an email afterwards! It’s useful to know little things, such as what are you bridal party colours, so that we can avoid wearing that colour on your wedding day!

Should You Book A Musician For Your Wedding?

Of course you should! Although you would expect me to say that. So let me tell you why. Although having a musician perform at your wedding isn’t a necessity, it can add an extra touch to your special day. Here are 5 points as to why you should book a musician for your wedding day:

1. Many Opportunities Throughout the Day

There are many points throughout the day itself where live music can really add to the atmosphere. For example strings, such as a violin or string quartet, can be perfect for the ceremony, or a live singer either with backing tracks or guitar/piano can compliment the drinks reception. A DJ can be great for the evening reception, but a vocalist or band can really get the party going!

2. A Memorable First Dance

A live performance of your first dance can be so much better than what any recording can be. The song can be any way that you want it to be, so that it is more personal to the both of you.

3. The Day is Filled With Your Favourite Songs

You can request special songs to be performed, I’ve even had a request to perform mash-ups of a couple of songs! This way the music is tailored to your tastes and I would say that the majority of musicians would be more than happy to learn specific songs just for you. Just make sure that you give the performer enough time to learn the song, as the more time that you give them then the better the performance will be.

4. A Talking Point for Guests

A musician can be a great way to ‘break the ice’ between guests and create a talking point for them. Background music can be great to add to fill ‘lull’s in the day such as when guests are waiting around while you are having your photographs taken, but live music will get your guests more involved and will create more of an atmosphere during those times when guests are waiting.

5. Fun and Memorable

A musician can make your wedding day more fun as they have a lot more charisma than a recorded track! They add a personal touch to your wedding day, making it more memorable and they can also bounce off of your guests, especially in the evening, to make the entertainment more fun! A wedding band can really get your guests on their feet and dancing the night away!
